“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” (1 Peter 4:10)
These are many ways to volunteer at Yuma Naz, such as our Audio/Visual Team; being a host on Sunday morning; helping with Youth Group; Kingdom Kids; VBS; events such as funerals, luncheons, and other church gatherings; prayer team; and building maintenance.
- Our audio/visual team keeps our sound booth running smoothly, preparing and operating the slide presentations and other media for services on Sunday morning as well as special events such as weddings, funerals, and other functions. At times, there would be opportunities for helping problem-solve functionality issues and changing or setting up equipment. All those with an aptitude for technical details, computer skills, and analytical thinking would love to be a part of this team!
- Our Sunday morning hosts greet all the attenders and help each person feel welcomed and at home in our environment, from handing out new-guest gifts and “Welcome to Our Church” cards, to prepping and setting up the coffee bar, to handing out bulletins and helping people find classrooms, the nursery, or restrooms — this is a great place to serve for those with a friendly, caring, outgoing personality.
- Our youth group helpers would assist leaders in making bimonthly youth group gatherings a fun and engaging experience for all involved, assisting in organizing games, food, and activities that keep teens connected to God and one another in meaningful ways. Loving teens and desiring that they know and love Christ is what is important in this ministry. All volunteers in youth and children’s ministry will be required to have a background check and training in child abuse awareness.
- Kingdom Kids is our Wednesday after-school club for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade, meeting from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. every Wednesday while Yuma District Schools are in session (in other words, we follow the public school calendar, including possible cancellations). Helpers will assist in giving a short Bible lesson; leading kids in worship; organizing games, food, and activities; monitoring kids at play and helping children to know and understand the love of Christ in how we engage with them and with each other. All volunteers in youth and children’s ministry will be required to have a background check and training in child abuse awareness.
- Event helpers will be able to help in many ways, serving in many ways the same as a host (see above), as well as in bringing covered dishes and/or helping serve food, and also setting up and taking down tables and chairs before and after events. Those who love to be around people, and serve, and be a part of social gatherings, particularly in the church setting, are people who will thrive in this ministry!
- Our Prayer Team connects by phone or text as needs and praises arise, lifting each other and our community up to the Lord regularly! If you are willing to pray for one another, this is definitely a spot for you!
- Building maintenance covers a wide variety of functions within the parameters of regular maintenance and repairs of both the church building and the parsonage. Those with a mechanical bent, who are knowledgeable about fixing things and willing to learn on the go, will be of enormous help in this ministry!
