We believe through full surrender to Jesus as Lord; God can redeem you, restore you and use you, this side of heaven.
White-knuckling rigors of religion will not transform you or save you. Real and everlasting change comes from a right relationship with Jesus Christ – following Jesus – obeying Christ’s commands to love God, love others and make disciples. God takes your surrendered heart and transforms it to be like Christ’s. The do’s and don’ts of religion are transformed within us to become will’s and wont’s.
What We Believe:
The Church of the Nazarene is the largest denomination in the classical Wesleyan-Holiness tradition. The doctrine that distinguishes the Church of the Nazarene and other Wesleyan denominations from most other Christian denominations is that of entire sanctification. Nazarenes believe that God calls Christians to a life of holy living that is marked by an act of God, cleansing the heart from original sin and filling the individual with love for God and humankind.

Church History:
The Church of the Nazarene as it is known today traces its roots back to 1908, when several holiness-tradition denominations came together to bring the message of true heart-holiness to the mission field given in the Great Commission — all the world. More denominational background may be found at https://nazarene.org/ .
Our church in Yuma began in 1917, when Rev. D.I. Vanderpool held a revival meeting at Bethany, a Union church 6 miles south of Yuma, CO. Following the revival, District Superintendent R.J. Plumb organized the Church of the Nazarene with nine members. Through the years, by the grace and faithfulness of the Lord, we have enjoyed the blessings of God, in various structures and through many Spirit-filled, passionate leaders in ministry. Throughout our history, we have stood with Nazarenes across the globe with one mission: to make Christlike disciples in the nations. Yuma First Church of the Nazarene has a renewed commitment to make a difference for Christ’s Kingdom in Yuma and the surrounding area, wherever the Lord may send us. We believe it is our church’s mission to join together in exploring our relationships with God, and finding the abundant life promised by Christ in John 10:10, The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. In the process, Christ transforms our hearts and the relationships in our daily lives. Today our church building stands at 505 East Beatty Avenue in Yuma, Colorado. We enthusiastically welcome you to come and explore our church, our faith, and know Christ!
